I Have an Immortal Emperor Uncle Who Farms at Home Chapter 4: You're a Cultivator
Early the next morning, Ye Fan drove the family’s only gas-powered tricycle, taking Ye Qingcheng and Nuonuo with him to Laiyang Town.
"Da Huang, be good and watch the house, okay? When we come back, Nuonuo will buy you something tasty," Nuonuo, sitting in the back of the tricycle, shouted to Da Huang, who was sitting by the gate seeing them off.
Woof woof…
Da Huang panted with his tongue out and wagged his tail, barking a few times as if to say, "Don’t worry, with me here, nothing will go wrong."
Once he saw his owners disappear at the end of the road, Da Huang returned to his old duties.
"Alright, time to water the melons and vegetables in the backyard again," Da Huang thought to himself before running toward the backyard, closing the gate behind him on the way.
The backyard wasn’t very big, and there weren’t many types of vegetables. Just four kinds: cabbage, chili peppers, tomatoes, and corn. But the strange thing was that there were exactly three plants of each type.
On either side of the vegetables grew a kind of aquatic plant not native to this latitude—red lotus roots.
Reaching the backyard, Da Huang ran straight to the water vat. As usual, he took the first sip for himself.
Gulp gulp gulp
"Ahh, this spirit spring water still hits the spot," he thought, enjoying the refreshing drink.
After that, Da Huang grabbed the water ladle in his mouth, scooped up some of the spring water, then ran over to the plants and carefully poured it right at their roots with perfect precision.
As the spirit spring water soaked into the soil, the plants began to sway gently, as if they were expressing their gratitude to Da Huang.
Of course, Da Huang understood their movements. He barked, "You all better give our master a good harvest. There’ll be no shortage of spirit water for you."
After a bit of busywork, Da Huang returned to the front yard and lazily sprawled out under the shade of a tree to nap.
Meanwhile, on the road to Laiyang Town—
"Ye Fan, why are you bringing so much cabbage today?"
Seeing Ye Fan bring out all the cabbage harvested over the past few days this morning made Ye Qingcheng quite curious.
"Because I have a feeling today’s going to bring a big sale. We need money for school, right? How can we manage without it?"
Ye Fan replied while driving the tricycle, glancing over at his sister as he spoke.
"Hehehe, even if you don’t sell a single thing today, you still have to go to school," Ye Qingcheng said with a smile.
She didn’t believe Ye Fan’s talk of some "big sale." After all, she and Nuonuo had set up their stall for three days straight, and only yesterday did someone even ask about their goods and in the end, they gave the cabbage away to Yang Lili.
"I understand, my good sister," Ye Fan replied simply, not arguing with her.
Soon, the three of them arrived at the same spot where the two of them had set up their stall the day before.
However, as the siblings arrived, they caused a stir among the older folks running nearby stalls. Whispers began to spread.
"Seriously? How do they still have the guts to come back?"
"Exactly, aren’t they afraid that Baldy Wang will cause trouble again?"
"Look, that girl even brought a young guy with her. Judging by his looks, he’s probably her younger brother."
Then, an old granny who was running a stall walked over to Ye Fan and the others.
"Young lady, didn’t I tell you yesterday to leave this place?"
Ye Qingcheng looked up at the wrinkled face of the old woman, unsure how to explain. If it weren’t for Ye Fan insisting on coming with her, she would never have taken the risk.
"Granny, I…"
"Granny, what’s the matter? Why can’t we come here?" Ye Fan stepped in front of Ye Qingcheng and asked.
"Aiyo, young man, you don’t know. Yesterday, that Wang Scar slapped Nuonuo and even threatened that he wouldn't let the two of them off."
Upon hearing that, a trace of killing intent flashed in Ye Fan’s eyes. Then he turned to the granny and said, "Thank you, granny."
"No need to thank me. You’d better leave quickly. That Wang Scar is a local thug around here. He’s not someone you want to mess with," the old woman quickly advised, seeing how hard life already seemed for the siblings.
"Leave? Go where?"
Just as the old woman finished speaking, Wang Scar showed up swaggering over, looking smug and aggressive. Behind him followed a few punks with dyed yellow hair, clearly his lackeys.
Wang Scar didn’t even look at Ye Fan and the others. He walked straight up to the old granny and slapped her hard.
Smack! The unsuspecting old woman was slapped to the ground.
"You damn old hag! That’s what you get for running your mouth. If you don’t pay me the full stall fee today, I swear I’ll cripple you!"
Ye Qingcheng immediately rushed forward to help the old granny up. Blood was already seeping from the corner of her mouth.
Clutching her now red and swollen face, the old woman pleaded through her tears, "Sir, I’m begging you… please give me a few more days. My husband needs money for medical treatment. I just don’t have enough right now."
"You don’t have it? Like I care! If you can’t pay, then get the hell out of here!"
Wang Scar didn’t care about any of that. All he cared about was collecting money.
Then, his perverted gaze shifted toward Ye Qingcheng’s neckline. "Oh ho… beauty, you’re really getting me hot today."
Ye Qingcheng noticed his stare and quickly pulled her clothes shut. "What do you want?"
"Hahaha, what do I want?" Wang Scar grinned wickedly. "Let me tell you, I’ve decided. You’re mine today."
As soon as he finished speaking, he reached out with his filthy hand, aiming to grab Ye Qingcheng’s delicate hand.
But just before he could touch her, a hand grabbed his wrist with ease.
"Who the hell are you?" Wang Scar demanded, glaring at the unfamiliar young man, Ye Fan.
Ye Fan looked at Wang Scar with calm eyes, though a hint of killing intent flickered within them. "My name is Ye Fan. I’m her little brother."
Wang Scar looked Ye Fan up and down. He was just a teenager, maybe seventeen or eighteen. He sneered and curled his lips. "Kid, let go of me right now and kneel. That’ll count as your apology for being disrespectful."
"Kneel? Everyone who’s ever told me to kneel… isn’t around anymore." Ye Fan shrugged, speaking coolly.
It was true. The people who once raised Ye Fan, his parents, were no longer in this world. And in the cultivation world, those who demanded he kneel either ended their own lives or were destroyed by Ye Fan.
Hearing Ye Fan’s bold tone, Wang Scar got excited. "Big words, huh? I’ll show you what it means to kneel before me."
With that, Wang Scar tried to shake off Ye Fan’s hand. But no matter how hard he struggled, the hand gripping him didn’t budge. Ye Fan didn’t even move an inch.
"Kid, let go of me!" Wang Scar shouted when he realized he couldn’t break free.
Ye Fan gave a faint smile. "Didn’t you say you were going to make me kneel? I’m just curious, how exactly are you planning to do that?"
As he spoke, Ye Fan lightly applied pressure with his fingers, and Wang Scar instantly felt a powerful force crushing his wrist.
Crack! In the blink of an eye, the bones in Wang Scar’s wrist were shattered into pieces.
A wave of searing pain shot through his entire body from his wrist.
"Ahhh! My hand, my hand!" he screamed in agony.
The event happened so suddenly that even the few thugs behind him took a moment to react before asking, "Boss, are you okay?"
Seeing his subordinates just standing there watching like it was a show, Wang Scar cursed at them furiously, "You sons of bitches! What the hell are you standing around for? Break that punk for me!"
"Yes, Boss!" they responded.
Right after that, the thugs all charged toward Ye Fan. One of them even had a sharp spring-loaded knife in his hand.
This scene completely frightened Ye Qingcheng and the others.
"Uncle, watch out! That bad guy has a knife!" Nuonuo shouted.
But Ye Fan let go of Wang Scar, turned around with a gentle smile, and looked at Nuonuo warmly.
"Nuonuo, watch how your uncle teaches these bullies a lesson."
Innocent and adorable as she was, Nuonuo had no idea how dangerous the situation was.
She just cheered loudly, "Uncle, go get them! Teach those bad guys who bullied Grandma a lesson!"
"You brat, still distracted even now?" one of the thugs sneered as he reached Ye Fan first.
He gripped the spring knife tightly and lunged forward, stabbing it fiercely toward Ye Fan’s abdomen.
"Ye Fan, watch out!" Ye Qingcheng shouted in alarm.
They all thought that with Ye Fan defenseless, the spring knife would pierce him without a doubt. But what happened next shocked everyone.
The knife did strike Ye Fan’s abdomen directly, yet not a drop of blood came out.
Instead, the blade shattered instantly upon impact.
The thug’s eyes widened in terror. He stumbled backward a few steps, pointing at Ye Fan with a trembling hand.
"You… you’re a cultivator?!"
