Became a National Couple with My Ex Chapter 64: She’s the Rose Blooming for the Moon (Ending Part 3)
Liang Yixuan’s ears turned red. She pushed Bian Xu lightly.
"You should just stay in your dream, honestly..."
Bian Xu laughed as he hugged her.
"Can’t I spend a little money to make that dream come true?"
"You think money can solve everything?" Liang Yixuan gave him a side glance. "I still have performances left. If you ruin this dress, even money won’t be able to get a replacement made in time."
Bian Xu shook his head with regret.
"Then I’ll take it off carefully. Happy now?"
"…"
"Don’t say that kind of stuff here," Liang Yixuan frowned and poked him in the waist. "Go see your grandpa already."
"Not until you say yes."
Liang Yixuan let out a sigh.
"Fine, I'll wear it home tonight. Whatever you say."
The dressing room was warm, a stark contrast to the snowy weather outside.
Bian Xu picked up Liang Yixuan’s white down coat that reached her calves and draped it over her costume before holding her hand and heading downstairs with her.
Under the awning at Gate 9, Bian Xu stepped forward and knocked on the rear window of a black Bentley.
The window lowered, and Liang Yixuan leaned down, meeting a pair of smiling eyes.
"Hello, Grandpa Bian. I’m Xiaoxuan."
"I know who you are. After watching such a wonderful ballet, how could I forget your face?" Old Mr. Bian beamed and waved her in. "It’s freezing out here. Get in the car."
"Okay." Liang Yixuan got into the back seat.
Just as Bian Xu was about to open the front passenger door, he heard his grandfather’s voice from inside: "Did I tell you to get in the car?"
His hand paused on the handle.
"What, it’s not freezing cold for me anymore?"
"You should go cool off somewhere else," the old man snapped.
Bian Xu turned and looked at Liang Yixuan, silently asking for her opinion.
She gave a small, subtle nod.
So Bian Xu shut the car door and went to wait outside.
Inside the car, it quieted down. Liang Yixuan turned slightly to face the elderly man.
"Grandpa Bian, you wanted to speak with me alone?"
"It’s nothing too serious. I just wanted to follow up on what I said last time in your, um…"
"Livestream," Liang Yixuan gently filled in.
"Yes, that livestream. I mentioned marriage back then, pushed you both to start planning, remember?" Bian Hongshu rubbed the folded handle of his cane. "I just wanted to make sure you didn’t think I was being the kind of old-fashioned elder who forces decisions on others. Back then, I was just afraid Bian Xu would mess around and delay things. But later I saw he really has his heart set on you, so I relaxed. You two just decide things yourselves. His parents and I are pretty open-minded. We won’t meddle unnecessarily. But if you’re ready to settle down and he’s still dragging his feet, you come tell me. I’ll go tug him by the ear myself!"
Liang Yixuan laughed.
"I understand. I didn’t misunderstand you at all. I even told him I think you’re really sweet."
"Is that so? That boy. He never tells me the good stuff," Bian Hongshu huffed. Glancing at his grandson outside the car, he shook his head. "It’s cold out. Let’s not keep him freezing for too long. One more thing, I won’t beat around the bush. I want to give you some peace of mind."
"Please go ahead."
"You’re still young, and your career’s on the rise. It’s your time to shine, and as someone in the arts myself, I completely support you focusing on your work. I won’t pressure you two to give me a great-grandchild anytime soon. As long as you’re both happy, that’s enough." He smiled and patted her hand. "To be honest, I never even expected that boy to get married. Having you by his side is the greatest blessing he could ask for and the best surprise our family’s ever gotten."
Liang Yixuan felt a faint ache in her nose, emotion swelling in her chest. She pressed her lips together.
"Thank you… Grandpa Bian."
He straightened his face.
"Now count, how many times have you called me ‘Grandpa Bian’ just during this one car ride?"
She blinked in surprise.
"Listen to what Bian Xu calls me."
Realizing what he meant, she cleared her throat and corrected herself: "Grandpa."
Bian Hongshu broke into a loud laugh and rolled down the window. He waved to Bian Xu, still waiting outside.
"Come on, take my granddaughter-in-law home properly. Don’t let her trip or bump into anything."
Liang Yixuan felt shy hearing herself called "granddaughter-in-law," while Bian Xu, on the other hand, acted completely at ease. He stepped forward, opened the car door for her, and held out his hand.
He looked at Bian Hongshu and said, "Do I really need you to tell me that?"
Liang Yixuan went back upstairs to the dressing room to gather her things. She said goodbye to the teachers and a few cast members who hadn’t left yet, then got into the back seat of another Bentley with Bian Xu.
As the car slowly pulled away from the theater, the hustle and chaos of the entire day finally came to an end. Liang Yixuan, who had been holding herself together all day, finally relaxed. Her body leaned toward Bian Xu, and her head gently rested on his shoulder.
Bian Xu took her hand and placed it on his leg.
"What did Grandpa say to you just now?"
"I’m not telling you," Liang Yixuan said, smiling and shaking her head.
Bian Xu lightly flicked her forehead with his knuckle.
"You’re not telling me, but I already know."
Liang Yixuan glanced up at him and said softly, "Your family is so kind..."
"So, does that mean you want to come home with me soon?"
Liang Yixuan choked a little.
"When did I say that?"
Bian Xu frowned.
"Then you must not like my family and don’t want to come."
Liang Yixuan rolled her eyes at him.
"You’re that kind of internet troll who always twists people’s words, aren’t you?"
"Then explain what you meant."
"Now you’re pressuring me?" she muttered. "Didn’t you say last time you didn’t want to marry young?"
"Liang Yixuan," Bian Xu pinched her earlobe gently, "Back then, didn’t you get it? I was trying to make things easier for you."
She thought back and finally understood.
At the time, her mother was still strongly against her dating. Maybe Bian Xu said he didn’t want to marry young just to take the pressure off her, maybe he even told his family the same, which is why Grandpa Bian gave her reassurance tonight.
Liang Yixuan blinked.
"So now...?"
"Now everything’s ready. Just waiting for the right wind. So, tell me, will the wind blow or not?"
Liang Yixuan rubbed her nose.
"I only wanted to take things slowly because of my mom’s attitude. Now that she’s softened..."
She suddenly stopped, realizing something didn’t add up. She sat up, scanned the inside of the car, noticed his empty hands, then replayed his earlier words in her head.
"Wait... are you proposing to me right now?"
"Does it not look like it?" Bian Xu raised an eyebrow.
She stared at him, her expression shifting from disbelief to suspicion and then to disappointment when she realized he wasn’t joking.
He laughed.
"If it didn’t feel like a real proposal, I’ll just do it again another time."
Liang Yixuan gave him a resigned look.
Forget it. Someone who proposes as casually as asking, "What do you want for dinner?" probably can’t be expected to care about formal rituals. Doing it again wouldn’t change much.
"Are you mad?" Bian Xu gently brushed her lips with his finger. "If you’re mad, listen to some music."
"…"
Why didn’t he just say, ‘Drink some hot water’ while he was at it?
Still stuck on the underwhelming proposal that had started and ended in the span of a minute, Liang Yixuan grew more frustrated the more she thought about it.
"I don’t want to listen…"
The driver up front, who had been about to turn on the stereo, froze immediately.
The car drove on a bit further, then Bian Xu suddenly pointed out the window.
"Baby, look, what’s that over there?"
Liang Yixuan turned to look and saw the entrance to North City Dance Academy, the affiliated high school she’d attended.
The driver slowed down.
"It’s this late and your old school’s still open?" Bian Xu asked.
Liang Yixuan stared at the open gate in surprise.
"That’s strange... is there some special event today?"
Bian Xu gestured to the driver, who pulled the car over.
"Since it’s open, want to go take a look?" he asked.
Liang Yixuan hesitated.
"Should we? What if we get mistaken for intruders?"
"What are you afraid of? If we get caught, I’ll just donate a building to the school."
"…"
Seeing she was still unsure, Bian Xu rolled down the window and pointed toward the circular plaza on the playground.
"I watched you dance there five years ago."
Liang Yixuan followed his finger and saw the snow had stopped. In the clear, post-snow night, the moonlight shone on the blanketed ground, lighting up the entire field like daylight.
For a moment, it felt like she was stepping through a tunnel in time, watching that struggling girl from five years ago—this time, with Bian Xu by her side.
"Will you take me to the plaza where you danced?" Bian Xu asked again.
Liang Yixuan forgot her annoyance and nodded.
"Okay."
They stepped out of the car and walked through the school gate. Just as Liang Yixuan was about to warn him to watch out for any security guards, Bian Xu lifted his hand and gently placed a single wireless earbud in her right ear.
A familiar yet unfamiliar melody played, familiar because of the tune, unfamiliar because of the new arrangement.
Liang Yixuan recognized it instantly.
"It’s Rosabella."
Bian Xu held her hand as they walked forward.
"A rearranged version."
"You went back to the island last month just to work on this?" she asked.
He nodded.
"Listen closely. See what’s different."
The original version of Rosabella had a gothic style—dark and moody, which Liang Yixuan couldn’t describe in musical terms, but she remembered it felt heavy.
This version was the opposite... bright, romantic, grand, and warm.
The same melody felt completely different in a new arrangement.
"I think I like this version better," she said, stepping through the snow, looking up at the moon partly veiled by clouds. "It feels like I’m living on the moon."
Bian Xu lowered his eyes with a soft smile.
As the lyrics began, Liang Yixuan murmured, "Everything that was missing that night... is here now."
That night, Bian Xu had imagined the snow, the moonlight, and Giselle’s white ballet dress. Tonight, it had all become real.
She had stepped out of the song and into its world, hand-in-hand with him.
Bian Xu nodded.
"Seems like the perfect night for a dream to come true."
Liang Yixuan raised her brow.
"Can you not ruin the moment with your weird thoughts?"
Bian Xu stopped walking and looked at her.
"Who’s ruining the moment, me or you?"
Just as she was about to argue back, Bian Xu held out his hand.
"This," he said, "is the dream come true I was talking about."
Liang Yixuan froze, staring at the deep blue velvet box in his palm. Slowly, she looked up and met his smiling eyes.
She blinked in disbelief, thinking about how annoyed she had been in the car, how he’d told her to calm down with music, the open school gate, the empty plaza and suddenly it all made sense.
He had planned this proposal all along. But before starting it, he needed to make sure she was emotionally ready.
Now, standing in the center of the plaza where it all began, he was ready to close the five-year-long circle of their story.
In the silence of the wide-open space, Liang Yixuan could hear her heart pounding in her chest.
Bian Xu stepped back on one knee, slowly lowering himself as he opened the box.
A silver-white diamond ring sparkled under the moonlight. The rose-shaped gem on the band shone even more brilliantly than a galaxy of stars.
Liang Yixuan’s hands trembled at her sides.
Bian Xu looked up at her, smiling.
"The snow is here. The moon is here. Giselle’s white dress is here. All that’s missing is the woman who’ll spend the rest of her life with me. Miss Liang Yixuan, will you make my dream come true?"
The wind swept the clouds away, revealing the full moon, pouring all its light onto the rose-shaped diamond ring.
In that moment, a new verse began to play in her ear... one she’d never heard before:
Then take her to roam the world,
Build a home beneath the laurel tree.
If someone asks where she’s gone—
She’s become the rose of the moon.
Liang Yixuan’s eyes welled up with tears. She nodded solemnly.
"That’s my dream too."
