Became a National Couple with My Ex Side Story · Main Couple (Part 2): Every Day Is a Lucky Day with Her Around
Liang Yixuan had listened to 《rosabella》 on repeat so many times that she was very familiar with the singer’s voice. But she’d never had any actual interaction with Xu Yifeng himself.
She opened her mouth, unsure how to greet him properly, and mouthed toward the man beside her who always said whatever came to mind— "What should I say?"
Before Bian Xu could signal anything, there was a second or two of awkward silence, and then Xu Yifeng’s voice cautiously came through the phone: "...Sister-in-law?"
Liang Yixuan quickly replied, "Hello."
"Sister-in-law, are you really my sister-in-law now?"
Liang Yixuan shot an annoyed look at Bian Xu, who was laughing without a care, and then said into the phone, "Yeah… I guess I am your sister-in-law."
Xu Yifeng let out a relieved laugh.
"Then I can relax. You don’t know, Sister-in-law this month I was so swamped with work, but my brother dragged me out to that island to record a song. I wasn’t in the best shape, and he locked me in a studio for three full days…"
"A professional singer needing the producer to wait for you to 'get in the zone’?" Bian Xu raised an eyebrow and cut him off. "Are you trying to make people feel sorry for you or just embarrassing yourself?"
There was a three-second silence on speaker before Xu Yifeng’s voice quietly returned: "...Bro, I was wrong."
"All right. That’s enough." Bian Xu reached out to press the hang-up button.
"Wait, wait! Bro, how should I respond to the public then?"
"Is it your wedding announcement?"
Xu Yifeng: "…"
The call ended. Liang Yixuan glanced sideways at Bian Xu and asked, "Can’t you be a little nicer when talking to people?"
Bian Xu had really changed a lot in front of her lately. Sometimes she would wonder if she had "suffered alone so the world could live in peace"—as if all the pain she went through in the beginning had made Bian Xu treat everyone around him more gently.
But now it was clear the old saying still held true: "A leopard doesn’t change its spots." When Bian Xu opened that mouth of his at other people, he was still just as sharp-tongued and relentless right or wrong.
Bian Xu sighed dramatically.
"Babe, do you know what your behavior is called right now?"
"What?"
"Being spoiled and still acting cute." He shook his head. "You don’t see it, huh? I’ve used up all my patience on you. Of course I don’t have any left to be polite to other people."
Bian Xu told Liang Yixuan to keep picking a movie, but she was no longer in the mood.
After checking her phone, she saw that both WeChat and Weibo were flooded with messages.
Not only were online netizens buzzing, but even the reality dating show crew, their fellow castmates, and people from the ballet world were all reaching out to ask what was going on.
Some older relatives hadn’t seen the actual posts themselves, they were just hearing secondhand rumors, passed from one person to the next. And somewhere along the way, the rumor evolved from "rumored to be engaged" to "officially engaged." So, they jumped straight to congratulating her.
Bian Xu, as always, acted like the sky could fall and it still wouldn’t concern him. But Liang Yixuan couldn’t sit still, she picked up her phone and began replying to the messages one by one.
Bian Xu leaned his head against his hand and watched her, looking every bit like a girl addicted to her phone, hunched over and tapping away without even glancing up. He let out a deep sigh, closed the movie ticket app, and went to clean up the dishes.
By the time he came back, she was still fully engrossed.
So he stepped out onto the balcony for a smoke.
He finished a cigarette and slowly strolled back in. Just as Liang Yixuan lifted her head to stretch her neck, he was about to ask if she was finally done. But before he could say anything, she bowed her head and kept on typing.
Finally, when Liang Yixuan had replied to all her WeChat messages, she looked up, dazed and dizzy. The dining table was already spotless, the whole house quiet. Bian Xu was nowhere in sight.
She glanced at the wall clock, her heart skipping a beat, and walked to the master bedroom. No sign of him napping. She headed upstairs.
The door to the second-floor study was slightly ajar. Just as she raised her hand to knock, she heard a deep sigh from inside:
"So much for a day for just the two of us. More like two thousand people."
"Two thousand people and I’m dead last."
"Tell me, isn’t marriage the grave of love, huh?"
"Forget it, what do you know? You're even further down the line than me."
"At least I got to have lunch with her. You? She didn’t even feed you."
…Liang Yixuan gently pushed the door open and peeked inside.
Bian Xu was sitting at the desk with Peach in his arms, absentmindedly ruffling the dog’s fur. He glanced up at the sound of the door, then looked back down and gave a cold laugh toward the dog in his lap.
"Oh look, she does remember I exist."
Peach turned around too. The moment he saw Liang Yixuan come in, she tried to jump down. But Bian Xu held her in place.
"You really are the clingy kind people talk about online, huh? She didn’t even feed you lunch, and here you are wagging your tail at her?"
Peach let out a soft, pitiful whine whether because she was being physically restrained or emotionally wounded was unclear. She slumped over in Bian Xu’s lap like a wilted cabbage, full of grievance.
Liang Yixuan sheepishly stepped forward.
"...You did feed Peach lunch, right?"
Bian Xu blinked slowly and looked up at her.
"Wow, Liang Yixuan. After all this time, the first thing you ask is about the dog? So now I’m ranked below the dog?"
"…"
Bian Xu set Peach down on the floor.
"Since you care so much about the dog, you comfort her."
Liang Yixuan rubbed her nose and glanced at him carefully.
"What are you looking at me for? I clearly can’t compare to a dog."
She frowned and shot him a glare, then crouched down to smooth Peach’s fur, gave her a plush toy, and finally stood up to face Bian Xu again.
He was leaning back in his chair, face expressionless, radiating a low-pressure aura.
She slowly walked over, straddled his lap, and said softly, "I was wrong."
Bian Xu didn’t say anything, just pointed at his chin.
Liang Yixuan kissed his chin.
"That’s it?" he raised an eyebrow.
She cleared her throat, wrapped her arms around his neck, and leaned in: "Husband…"
She heard a soft laugh above her head.
Liang Yixuan looked up, catching the smug smile on Bian Xu’s face. She realized what had just happened.
"Wait… you weren’t even mad?"
Bian Xu didn’t deny it, still smiling.
She gave his arm a playful punch. It didn’t do much his muscles were solid. She pouted.
"You tricked me into calling you ‘husband’ again…"
"Hey."
"…"
"Well, if you’re not mad, then I am." Liang Yixuan frowned.
"Huh?"
"I typed out every single one of those replies myself. If people didn’t know you never respond to messages, they wouldn’t have come flooding to me."
"Didn’t I do the housework?" Bian Xu spread his hands. "You handle outside affairs, I handle inside the home—clear division of labor, totally reasonable."
Liang Yixuan held up her phone, still buzzing nonstop.
"You cleaned up the table for what, five minutes? I’ve been drowning in messages for over an hour."
"Wow, Liang Yixuan. You’re really popular. Where did all these friends come from?"
"It’s not just one reply per person! I tell them we haven’t officially registered our marriage yet, then someone asks when we’ll do it. Then they send me auspicious wedding dates. Then they ask when the banquet is. Then they remind me that good venues have to be booked a year in advance. Some warn me about scammy wedding planners. Others ask about the dowry…"
Bian Xu rubbed his temples and nodded in understanding, then picked up his phone and logged into his studio’s official Weibo account.
Half an hour later, the hashtag #BianLiangTietheKnot# shot up the trending charts.
Among the top posts was a tweet from @BianXuStudio: a photo and caption.
The photo was taken a week ago, after Bian Xu’s proposal. He had pulled out a bouquet of white roses from the trunk like a magician, and when Liang Yixuan got back in the car holding them, she had wanted a keepsake photo. So in the backseat, one hand holding the roses, the other hand clasping Bian Xu’s, she had taken a picture from above—
A rose-shaped diamond ring on her left ring finger, Giselle’s white ballet dress, and their intertwined hands—everything captured perfectly in one shot.
@BianXuStudio:「We’ll register after the New Year. With her, every day is an auspicious day. The wedding will be on an island, no need to book a hotel. No wedding planner would dare scam me. As for the dowry, my entire net worth is hers. That’s the official response to all questions. Thanks for your concern, but please stop messaging her. She’s going on a date with me. —Bian Xu。」
Liang Yixuan, in the spirit of celebration, shared the post and also thanked the fans for their warm wishes.
Among the other popular reposts—
@XuYifeng:「Congrats to my big bro and sis-in-law! Wishing you a lifetime of happiness!」
@LateBloomerOfficial:「"With her, every day is an auspicious day." —Wishing Bian and Liang a happily-ever-after!」

@GuLeZhi:「If anyone’s asking where she went, she’s on a date with Mr. Bian.」
At the apartment entrance, while changing her shoes, Liang Yixuan looked at her phone and asked:
"Teacher Gu Lezhi is the one who wrote the lyrics for 《rosabella》, right? I think I forgot to follow her."
"What’s there to follow?"
"She kind of counts as our matchmaker, doesn’t she?"
Just as she was about to tap the follow button, Bian Xu grabbed her by the hand and pulled her out the door.
"If you keep getting distracted on our date, one ‘husband’ won’t be enough to calm me down."
