Don't Cause Trouble Chapter 74: Ten-Thousand-Year-Old Demon
Under the sunlight, the Chongming Sword lying on the stone table looked surprisingly harmless.
Its blood jade hilt gleamed gently, hiding a faint rainbow-like glow within.
At the center of the sword, there seemed to be a circular emblem—though it had long been worn away, as if someone had deliberately erased it.
The ancient silver that once fully covered the sword had begun to peel off in places, revealing the blood jade beneath.
Ming Liu Sha reached out and touched the ancient silver coating the Chongming Sword.
"Nice... very nice."
Just one look at the blood jade, and you could tell it was no ordinary material.
But what was surprising was that the ancient silver wrapped around the sword was no less remarkable.
In fact, it was strong enough to suppress the sword’s bloodthirsty aura.
No one knew what kind of alloy this ancient silver was made from.
Xiyu leaned in to study the intricate patterns on the sword's surface.
After a moment, she swayed slightly, feeling dizzy.
"There are formations and talismans on it?" she asked, puzzled.
Ye Su gave the Chongming Sword a quick glance, then tilted her head back and finished her tea.
"Yes. Probably used to suppress the blood jade."
She had taken a close look at it back in the Sword Tomb when she held the sword.
She couldn’t understand the markings but one thing was clear:
The smith who forged this sword had chosen a cursed material for the core,
then wrapped it in ancient silver, and painstakingly carved suppression runes all over it.
It was all for one purpose: —To ensure that the wielder would remain unaffected by the sword’s bloodthirsty aura.
Ye Su turned slightly to look at You Fushi beside her.
If what her junior brother said was true that this sword belonged to him. She wondered how that weapon smith would feel seeing his carefully crafted sword being dragged across the ground like that.
Her junior brother clearly wasn’t the type to treat swords like his life.
As for You Fushi himself, his thoughts weren’t even on the Chongming Sword.
He was warming his hands with the tea cup, and once that was done, he was about to pour the now-cooled tea onto the ground and get a fresh cup.
"Don’t get used to wasting things," Ye Su said with a frown when she saw him.
You Fushi looked at her, his dark eyes pure and striking.
"It’s cold."
Perhaps thinking she was about to nag him again, he pulled his hand back and reluctantly prepared to drink the remaining tea.
Ye Su reached out, grabbed his wrist, and smoothly took the cup from his hand.
When their fingers touched, she was startled by how cold his skin was— colder than when they were in the Sword Tomb.
Was it because he had touched the Chongming Sword?
Without a word, Ye Su used her spiritual fire to reheat the tea. Then handed the cup back to You Fushi.
"It’s ready."
She had perfect control of her flame.
The heat didn’t damage the cup, only warmed the tea inside.
You Fushi took the cup and slowly began drinking.
He decided that from now on, he’d let this mortal reheat his tea.
"Senior Sister, I want some too."
Ming Liu Sha held his cup and slowly slid it over, asking for his tea to be warmed too.
Ye Su smiled lightly.
"You still can’t control spiritual fire? Why not practice on your tea today and improve your technique?"
Ming Liu Sha silently pulled his cup back, looked left and right, and said, "The spiritual energy is strong today. I should go cultivate."
With that, he quickly slipped away—extremely fast and efficient.
Xiyu and Xia Er, after finishing their inspection of the Chongming Sword, also didn’t linger. They followed after to continue cultivating.
Watching her junior brothers and sisters flee so quickly, Ye Su couldn’t help but shake her head.
If she hadn’t dragged them out to see the Chongming Sword today, they’d still be buried in cultivation.
With spiritual energy so abundant and no threats to worry about, Ming Liu Sha and the others truly treasured the opportunity—
Spending day and night in cultivation or crafting without much rest.
Thinking of this, Ye Su’s smile faded just a little.
If Qianji Sect had its own spiritual vein, things wouldn’t have to be like this.
She returned to her senses, and her gaze fell on the Chongming Sword still lying on the stone table.
Something suddenly came to mind.
She turned to her junior brother and asked, "How old are you?"
Just from the ancient silver on the sword, you could tell the sword was incredibly old—
At least from before the Divine Fall Era, because this silver didn’t match any known materials in the modern cultivation world.
If You Fushi truly was the sword’s only master… then his age…
Seeing her junior brother pretending not to hear, Ye Su raised an eyebrow and leaned a little closer.
She teased him: "Are you a ten-thousand-year-old demon or something?"
You Fushi turned to look at this mortal, his expression clearly annoyed.
Right in front of her, he raised both hands and covered his ears. Indicating that he couldn’t hear her.
Ye Su couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
It was the first time she had ever seen her junior brother react with such open resistance.
"Come on, let’s go train."
After laughing, Ye Su stood up and looked at the sword on the table.
She nudged his hand aside and asked, "Do you even know how to use a sword?"
You Fushi reluctantly stood.
"I know a few moves."
Ye Su’s sharp eyes noticed that as he gripped the Chongming Sword, a few more beads of blood seeped out from the sword.
The whole sword seemed to radiate a sort of defeated, lifeless aura.
"Let’s try the training grounds." Ye Su said.
All the sword cultivators of Sword Sect practiced there.
There were sparring matches at all times, making it the perfect place to train.
Lu Jiu and Yi Xuan, for example, were almost always there.
……
You Fushi brought the Chongming Sword over, quickly drawing attention from many people. Of course, even without the sword, he would still catch everyone's eye.
"Ye Su, Young Master You, what brings you here?" Xu Chengyu had just finished sparring with Yi Xuan. There was a light sheen of sweat on his forehead and a few sword wounds on his arms. His gaze landed on the Chongming Sword dragging on the ground, and he couldn’t help but twitch his fingers.
As a sword cultivator who valued swords like his own life, he really couldn’t get used to seeing someone treat a sword so casually, even if it was an ominous one.
"I brought him to take a look," Ye Su replied. Her little junior brother didn’t have the best memory, who knew if he’d even remember how to swing the sword.
Xu Chengyu pointed to a platform nearby. "They’re starting a challenge match over there soon. If Young Master You is interested, he can give it a try."
Ye Su nodded and looked at Yi Xuan on the platform, currently dueling with Lu Jiu. She murmured thoughtfully, "His sword intent seems to have changed a bit."
"You noticed too?" Xin Shenzi walked over and sized Ye Su up critically before saying proudly, "Know what it means for a broken sword to be reborn? Honestly, the swords from your Qianji Sect just don’t cut it…"
"That sword was personally forged by Grandmaster Yi Xuan’s father," Ye Su said quietly.
Xin Shenzi choked, swallowing the rest of his sentence. He instinctively tried to explain, "The sword is great, it’s just… not quite suited to my disciple."
Having mentored Yi Xuan for a while now, Xin Shenzi naturally knew his disciple cared deeply about his sect and wouldn’t tolerate anyone badmouthing it not even his second master.
"The Chongming Sword is single-edged, lacking a second edge, which makes it more steady and heavy," Ye Su said, gazing up at Yi Xuan on the platform. "It suits him."
This sword had a spirit and didn’t resist demonic bloodlines. It even seemed willing to accept them, making it unexpectedly compatible with someone like Yi Xuan, who was extremely stubborn and intense.
Xin Shenzi was in a good mood after hearing that. In his happiness, he glanced a few times at You Fushi, who was lazily standing to the side, and jerked his chin toward another platform. "Go up and practice your swordwork. I’ll have a look."
That was his way of offering guidance.
Before Yi Xuan joined the Eight Wastelands Peak, Xin Shenzi rarely offered guidance to the lower disciples, he mostly spent his time arguing with the elders and grand elders.
Even now, Xu Chengyu and Lu Jiu only got occasional tips because they tagged along when Yi Xuan was training.
But You Fushi, given such a great opportunity, clearly wasn’t listening. He stood beside Ye Su, idly spinning the Mistflower Fang around his wrist.
Xin Shenzi waited a long time but got no response.
"Go up and spar later," Ye Su said, turning to him.
You Fushi leaned on the Chongming Sword like it was a cane, nodded lazily to show he heard the mortal’s words.
The famously wild and untamed Xin Shenzi: "..." Was there really someone even more unruly than him?
On the platform, Lu Jiu finally outmaneuvered Yi Xuan with a feint and won. Both of them were covered in wounds, blood soaking through their robes in several places.
"Lu Jiu’s swordplay is too messy. She wouldn’t stand a chance against someone a bit stronger," Xin Shenzi went up, tossed each of them a bottle of healing pills, then tapped a few exposed weak points on her body with his sword and adjusted a few of her moves. "Your technique’s mostly formed, just needs a bit of refining."
Lu Jiu had learned to fight through trial and error. Her sword style wasn’t elegant, but it worked for her.
Xin Shenzi didn’t comment on Yi Xuan’s performance. He only wanted his disciple to experience Lu Jiu’s willingness to suffer heavy damage just to deal even more to the enemy, a mindset most disciples of the Sword Sect lacked.
"Senior Sister," Yi Xuan came down holding the Chongming Sword, greeting Ye Su with a noticeably calmer demeanor than before.
Ye Su nodded. "How does it feel?"
There was a shallow cut on Yi Xuan’s face from Xu Chengyu’s sword intent, still stinging slightly, but he didn’t care. "The Chongming Sword… is excellent."
He caught a glimpse of the Chongming Sword resting on the ground and felt no particular emotion, it wasn’t his sword.
"Don’t dawdle—hey, you," Xin Shenzi pointed his sword at You Fushi below the platform. "Go spar on the side."
A new round of matches was about to start on the side platform. Many disciples of the Sword Sect were already gathered, waiting for the gong to sound.
"Young Master You," Xu Chengyu explained, "that’s our Sword Sect’s challenge platform. Once you’re up there, the goal is not to get knocked off. The record is four hundred sixty-one consecutive wins—set by Elder Xin himself when he was still a disciple. Took five days and four nights."
Since then, Xin Shenzi had earned the title of "Mad Sword."
"Give it a try," Ye Su said to her junior brother. "Do a few matches."
You Fushi slowly dragged the Chongming Sword up the platform, not even bothering to lift it properly. He just let it clatter and bang all the way up the steps.
Ye Su couldn’t help but raise her hand to cover her face, she could feel the murderous glares from the circle of sword cultivators around her.
To sword cultivators, their swords were like lovers. They could be battered, starving, and dressed in rags—but their swords had to be in perfect condition.
Who could stand seeing their beloved dragged across the ground like that?!
Even if it’s someone else’s sword, it’s still unbearable!!!
Thankfully, the walk wasn’t long. Under a wave of judgmental and furious stares, You Fushi finally stopped in the center of the platform, waiting for the match to start.
"I’ll go first!" A disciple in the Golden Core stage—one who had also entered the Sword Tomb with them—jumped onto the platform. As the host disciple rang the bell to begin, he cupped his fists and said, "Please give me your guidance."
Even as the opponent charged at him with sword raised, You Fushi stood completely still at the center of the platform. He looked down at the Chongming Sword in his hand… then casually let it go.
The Chongming Sword didn’t fall, it suddenly flew into the air and clashed directly with the approaching disciple’s sword strike.
So, on the stage, You Fushi stood quietly, calmly toying with the Mistflower Fang, while that disciple frantically swung his sword, trying to deal with the Chongming Sword.
Truth be told, he didn’t stand a chance. The Chongming Sword overpowered him with every move. It wasn’t long before the sword flicked him off the platform.
Clang—!
The disciple officiating below the stage shouted, "Next!"
The Chongming Sword diligently continued to take on each challenger, while You Fushi, getting tired from standing, even considered sitting down. But without Ye Su’s robe hem to cushion him, he thought it was too dirty and just kept standing there spacing out.
Xin Shenzi, who had been ready to step in and offer some sword technique guidance: "…"
This… is way beyond ridiculous!
