Don't Cause Trouble Chapter 109: Scales
The Chongming Sword spun a few times, but in the end, it didn’t dare go in again. It stood pitifully at You Fushi’s door, the red glow on its blade noticeably dimmer.
Ye Su didn’t go rest. Instead, she first asked what Ming Liu Sha and the others had been up to over the past month, and whether Zhanjin Sect and Quan Dianhang had made any moves.
"Recently, Quan Dianhang has been offering discounts on materials, attracting a lot of artifact forgers," Xi Yu said while holding a mirror and looking at her own face. "But many cultivators are also keeping an eye on Wendong Materials. Huang Erqian has already sold off those beast cores. As for the Yamata, there’s been a promotional buildup. He and Quan Jiaying have agreed to start the auction once you come out."
"What about Qianji Sect?" Ye Su asked. "Any orders for refining artifacts?"
"There are," Ming Liu Sha answered seriously from the side. "Quite a lot, actually."
"What happened?" Ye Su met her second junior brother’s eyes and asked.
"Too many orders," Ming Liu Sha said, pulling out a stack of papers. "These are the people who want artifacts refined. I rejected most of them and only kept about twenty orders."
As soon as he said that, Ye Su basically understood the situation.
Refining artifacts requires a lot of materials. If Qianji Sect accepted all the orders, they’d inevitably need materials. In the past, when Wendong didn’t have them, Qianji Sect could just use spirit stones to buy from other suppliers—quietly, even from Quan Dianhang. But now that Quan Dianhang monopolizes the necessary materials, if they refuse to sell to Qianji Sect, then the artifacts can’t be made.
That would damage the newly rising reputation of Qianji Sect.
Ye Su flipped through the orders Qianji Sect had accepted. They were all requests for materials Wendong could obtain, mostly common and ordinary ones.
"Standard artifacts," Ye Su returned the list to Ming Liu Sha. "As long as you can craft standard ones well, that’s good enough. Poyuan Sect has its own supply channels. Once we sell Yamata and get the spirit stones, I’ll have Huang Erqian stock up on materials."
Ming Liu Sha nodded. "Senior Sister, you should go rest."
"Once the sect competition ends, we’ll go out and find materials ourselves," Ye Su told the junior disciples in the courtyard. "It’s just one materials supplier. They won’t be able to choke us."
"With Senior Sister around, Qianji Sect is sure to rise back to the top!" Xia Er declared without hesitation. "When you ascend within a hundred years, who would dare mess with us? Everyone will come fawning over Qianji Sect!"
Ye Su stood in the courtyard, hearing her fourth junior brother brag again. She had just smiled when she suddenly recalled what Daoist Fengchen said back in the main hall.
A cultivator who once had Linglong Bones had reached the tribulation stage within a hundred years, what happened after that?
She remembered the expressions of Daoist Fengchen and the other sect masters. That cultivator must’ve ascended.
The Wuxing Sect master had been the most obvious in showing emotion, his face full of yearning and envy.
Back in her room, Ye Su began to meditate.
Even though she had reached late-stage Nascent Soul, her spiritual palace felt empty, there was no true Nascent Soul manifestation. Fortunately, no one around her had noticed anything unusual.
Ye Su turned her inner gaze to her spiritual palace. It was now several times larger than before, and the spiritual energy inside was far denser than during the Golden Core stage.
She stared at her sea of consciousness for a long time, then suddenly controlled her divine sense, gathering it within the sea until it formed a miniature version of herself.
She placed that mini Ye Su inside her spiritual palace, murmuring thoughtfully, "This looks a lot more normal."
In another room, You Fushi was half-lying on the bed. That clash with the demon lord had shattered something in his spiritual palace.
As soon as he touched the bed, he fell into a deep sleep.
On the wrist exposed at the edge of the bed, dark-black scales faintly shimmered. If someone were present and looked closely, they’d see those scales gleamed like the finest jade.
A few days later, Huang Erqian sent word that the Yamata was ready to be auctioned. This time, they were partnering with Poyuan Sect to hold the auction in the outer city of Kunlun.
Today, many disciples from various sects had gone to the Kunlun outer city to join in the excitement. Some, of course, were hoping to buy the Yamata.
"Senior Sister, we’re ready!" Xia Er called out from the courtyard.
Ye Su came out of her room and glanced at the room next door. Then she said to the five people in the courtyard, "You go ahead. I’ll come later."
"Okay." Xia Er and Yi Xuan headed toward the outer city.
Ye Su turned around to push open You Fushi’s door, but the Chongming Sword suddenly swung sideways to block her.
She stepped to the side, and the sword moved to block her again.
She shifted again, and it followed. "…"
They were locked in a stand-off for a while. Ye Su tried to figure out if the demon sword was holding a grudge or protecting the little junior brother inside.
Her hands stayed behind her back, but she sent her divine sense into the room.
The little junior brother was half-lying on the bed, long hair flowing around him, he didn’t look any different from usual. His hand hung off the bed.
So was the sword just being petty?
Ye Su gave the Chongming Sword a glance, then finally reached out and grabbed it.
Whatever else could be said, the hilt of Chongming Sword had the best grip she’d ever felt.
The sword tried to resist for a bit, but eventually let Ye Su push the door open with it in hand.
On the bed, You Fushi’s breathing was steady. Ye Su leaned down and gently pulled up the hand that was about to fall to the floor and placed it back on the bed. "We’re heading to Kunlun Outer City. You coming?"
You Fushi kept his eyes closed, seemingly still asleep.
"Then you stay here," Ye Su straightened up, pulled out a paper and pen, and began writing a note. "We’ll be back later."
She hadn’t even finished writing when she felt her hem being tugged. Looking down, she saw the little junior brother had opened his eyes and was quietly looking at her.
"You’re awake?" Ye Su put away the note and pen. "Want to come?"
You Fushi tilted his head up to look at her, still not fully awake.
Ye Su bent halfway down so they were at eye level. She asked again, "Little junior brother, do you want to go to Kunlun Outer City with me?"
"Yes," You Fushi finally let go of her hem, then reached for his hairpin by the bed and handed it to her.
Once Ye Su took the hairpin, he turned around confidently, facing inward with his back to her.
He didn’t say a word, clearly expecting her to tie his hair.
Sure enough, the next moment, Ye Su sighed helplessly and sat at the edge of the bed. She reached out and lifted his long hair. The cold, silk-like strands slipped through her fingers.
Ye Su lowered her eyes and looked at her junior brother’s black hair. From every angle, he looked like a pampered noble son who’d never suffered a day in his life.
Well, some people really don’t need to suffer.
"All done." Ye Su said after securing his hair with the pin. "Change your clothes. We’re leaving."
She stood up and was about to leave the room when she kicked something. Looking down, she saw a piece of black... jade?
Ye Su bent down and picked up the piece of jade. She could sense the power within the thin black stone. For some reason, it looked familiar.
She recalled the direction You Fushi’s hand had been hanging earlier and looked at him. "Did you take this out from the realm?"
You Fushi turned to glance at the item in her hand. The hand hidden beneath his sleeve on the bed twitched slightly. He looked a bit guilty. "Yeah."
"You said a few days ago that you were too tired after returning from the formation, how did you open the realm again? I remember it drains a lot of your spiritual power." Ye Su walked over and handed him the black jade. "Put it away."
She was beginning to suspect he hadn’t been asleep earlier, he might’ve passed out.
You Fushi looked at the item in front of him, then suddenly turned his head away and refused to meet her eyes. "You picked it up. It’s yours now."
