Don't Cause Trouble Chapter 110: Unyielding Sword
"You're giving it to me?" Ye Su looked at the 'black jade' in her hand after hearing what her junior said. "I don’t think I can repay you."
"You don’t have to repay me." You Fushi looked away awkwardly. It was a scale he had shed. Although someone had told him not to give those away casually, letting a mortal take it… should be fine.
From the purple jade stone last time to this black jade, Ye Su was becoming increasingly curious about You Fushi’s identity. She looked at her junior and asked, "Are you one of those powerful cultivators who failed their ascension?"
It was said that some powerful cultivators who failed to ascend during tribulation didn’t die or lose their Dao, but instead regressed in cultivation and started over.
A cultivator at that level could live for thousands of years, and getting struck down by lightning could mess with their memory, understandable.
Her junior had his own inner world, his cultivation rose unusually fast, and his mind wasn’t quite right. This guess seemed to make perfect sense.
You Fushi didn’t understand what she meant. He stood up, ignoring Ye Su’s presence, and began tugging at the thin belt around his waist, apparently about to take off his robe.
"Junior brother." Ye Su quickly stepped forward and held his hand, her gaze involuntarily falling on his shoulder. "…I’ll wait for you outside."
As Ye Su turned and left, You Fushi frowned slightly. Why was this mortal being so strange, saying she’d wait outside, yet still came over to touch his hand?
Having narrowly avoided her junior’s "personal assault," the senior sister stood outside the door with a sigh of relief, unaware of the misunderstanding You Fushi now had about her.
Leaning against the door, Ye Su turned her head and saw the Chongming Sword floating beside her. He could control the sword spirit… That made him fit the image of a powerful cultivator who failed their ascension even more.
After waiting outside for a while, You Fushi finally came out. He had changed into a black robe, one Ye Su had previously ordered for him from the Qianji Sect.
Compared to the clothes he used to wear, it was of lesser quality. But it made his features stand out even more.
"Why are we going to the outer city?" You Fushi asked as he followed Ye Su out, not seeing anyone else in the courtyard.
"There’s an auction." Ye Su stood on her Chongming Sword. Her sword had been broken into two pieces in the Suhui Formation and she hadn’t had time to repair it. "It should be lively."
……
The outer city of Kunlun indeed became lively. After the second trial, there weren’t many cultivators left in the competition. Most of them were disciples from the Five Great Sects. This time, an extra group from the Qianji Sect had made it through. Even Wuming Sect had a few entrants. In total, fewer than forty people advanced to the third round.
With the weaker sects already eliminated, things relaxed a bit. Before leaving, everyone flocked to the outer city to join in the excitement.
The main attraction was an auction co-hosted by Wendong Materials and the Poyuan Sect. Disciples from the five major sects were also in attendance.
"So crowded? That’s a disciple from the Shangque Sect, right?"
"Look up there, Hehuan Sect is here too."
"All for the Yamata? These major sects shouldn’t be lacking in magical artifacts."
"Who ever complains about having too many artifacts? Besides, this Yamata shot straight to the top of the Baiqing Rankings. It’s got to be something special."
"Didn’t expect the Qianji Sect, practically a dying sect, to make a comeback."
"A comeback is one thing, but their disciples all made it into the third round of the sect competition! All four of them!"
"So what if they did? You think they’ll beat Kunlun? Lu Chenhan is already at the Nascent Soul stage. In smaller sects, that’s elder level. He’s truly heaven’s chosen."
At one table on the first floor, several male cultivators were talking over each other, discussing the past and present, spittle flying as they commented on the cultivation world.
"Listen to me!" One of them slapped the table hard, leaned forward, and deliberately lowered his voice. "I have some inside info on the Qianji Sect."
"Go on." The others immediately leaned in and asked in hushed voices.
"You remember a few Wuming Sect people got into the top three during the western trial? Two of them?"
"Yeah. In previous years, they would’ve crushed the five major sects. Too bad they got unlucky this year."
"Weren’t you talking about the Qianji Sect?"
The table-slapper lowered his voice dramatically but loud enough for everyone nearby to hear. "One of them, Ning Qianyao, is rumored to also be a disciple of the Qianji Sect."
"A disciple? I saw her clash with some of them from afar."
"That’s what you don’t get. It looked like conflict, but they’re actually from the same sect senior and junior disciples." He glanced around the table, satisfied at their surprised expressions. "Now think about it. Why would the Qianji Sect do that? I bet they’re planning something big."
The people nearby looked confused. Someone finally asked, "What are they planning?"
The table-slapper’s expression froze for a second, then he switched to a mysterious tone: "Just wait and see. You’ll find out soon enough."
While gossip filled the lower floor, upstairs in a private auction room, Lian Lian and Cheng Huai’an from the Wuxing Sect had already arrived.
"These are the talismans we just finished drawing." Lian Lian pushed ten talismans across the table to Huang Erqian. "Consider them a gift to celebrate your first official auction."
Huang Erqian was stunned as he looked at the talismans on the table. He hadn’t expected core disciples from the Wuxing Sect to come for something like this.
"Don’t look down on them. I think Ye Su could probably draw better ones after a bit of practice." Lian Lian, dressed in red, sat at the table while Cheng Huai’an stood behind her as she leaned back. "Still, mid-Nascent Soul talismans are just barely good enough to auction off."
"Auction off?" Huang Erqian was shocked.
It wasn’t about the talismans. If he took talismans drawn by core disciples of the Wuxing Sect and put them up for auction, within a day the entire Kunlun Realm would think the sect had partnered with Wendong Materials.
Lian Lian blew on her freshly painted nails. "What, you don’t want mid-Nascent Soul talismans?"
"No, no. But once we put them out there, the Quandian Firm will find out." Huang Erqian said earnestly. "They might stop selling your talismans."
The Quandian Firm had trading deals with all the major sects. The Wuxing Sect sold some of their talismans through them.
"They can do whatever they want." Lian Lian looked up. "If we can’t match Ye Su, you think we can’t match anyone else either?"
After some hesitation, Huang Erqian finally accepted the talismans. He stood and gave them a deep bow. "On behalf of Wendong Materials, thank you both."
At this joint auction, aside from the Yamata, the Poyuan Sect would also be contributing other magical artifacts. The Qianji Sect sent some too, but they were made by their disciples and not very high-grade.
To be honest, a single Wendong Materials firm, combined with a second-tier crafting sect, wouldn’t normally cause much stir in the Kunlun Realm.
But because the Yamata suddenly shot to first place on the Baiqing Rankings, and Ye Su was currently competing in the sect tournament, the two factors together drew attention.
Now, with another major sect joining in even if it was just ten talismans, they could start building their reputation.
The Quandian Firm had ties with the five major sects. Wendong Materials now had theirs too.
……
When Ye Su and You Fushi arrived, the entire building was already packed with people. She pulled her junior brother and squeezed up to the third floor. They hadn’t even fully reached the top when the surrounding chatter suddenly intensified again.
She turned her head to look down and saw the Buddhist disciple from the Wanfo Sect, Gu Liangtian, and Kunlun's Lu Chenhan walking in through the door.
These two had actually come to join in the excitement as well.
"Even Lu Chenhan from Kunlun showed up."
"This auction was definitely worth coming to, there’s bound to be something good."
As Lu Chenhan stepped across the threshold, he suddenly looked up and locked eyes precisely with Ye Su, who had just reached the corridor on the third floor.
Ye Su didn’t look away, meeting his gaze directly. But the next moment, You Fushi leaned forward and blocked their line of sight.
"Ye Su, are you going or not?" You Fushi thought the corridor was too crowded and wondered why this mortal was just standing there.
"Going."
The two of them entered a private room, where their fellow disciples from the Qianji Sect were already waiting, including Quan Jiaying.
"The auction is about to start," Quan Jiaying said, unable to hide the excitement on his face. This was his first time fully participating in an auction. "Here’s the newly released list of items."
Ye Su took the list and glanced over it. A new line had been added: "...Wuxing Sect talismans?" She remembered that when Huang Erqian sent the message earlier, there was no mention of items from the Wuxing Sect.
Quan Jiaying had only just found out too: "Lian Lian and Cheng Huaian delivered them in person."
The connection between the Wendong Materials Shop and the Qianji Sect was no secret. These two were clearly trying to help her.
Ye Su nodded and kept it in mind. She sat down and pulled a chair over for her junior brother as well.
You Fushi glanced at Yi Xuan on the other side, who had no one pulling a chair out for him. His eyebrows moved slightly with satisfaction.
Yi Xuan met his gaze and suddenly clicked his tongue.
The sound wasn’t loud, but it successfully drew the attention of everyone in the room.
Yi Xuan sat upright in his chair, holding a sword in one hand. The red mole on his forehead was eerily beautiful, and his overly handsome face remained expressionless, looking no different than usual.
For a moment, people thought they might have misheard.
Of course, everyone except You Fushi. He was already comfortably seated on the chair Ye Su had pulled out for him.
Just as everyone withdrew their gazes and prepared to look downstairs, Yi Xuan spoke again, implying something: "Some people can’t even manage to pull out a chair."
Ye Su silently withdrew her hand. She had acted purely out of habit, her junior brother always looked like he couldn’t do anything on his own.
You Fushi didn’t seem to notice he was being targeted. He tugged on Ye Su’s sleeve, rested it on the table, and started playing with the Mistflower Fang on his wrist, fully embodying an innocent and lazy demeanor, as if he had never once given Yi Xuan a provocative look.
Yi Xuan, expressionless, exposed him: "When senior sister isn’t around, some junior brothers are very diligent. Lu Jiu, wouldn’t you agree?"
Lu Jiu, who was suddenly dragged into this junior brother rivalry: "...Huh?"
Sitting at the side, Ming Liu Sha lowered her head and suppressed a few snickers before slowly raising her head to look at Yi Xuan and drawled, "Junior—brother—are—you—jealous?"
It was honestly too unexpected. After over ten years in the Qianji Sect, they had all known Yi Xuan as someone repressed like a bitter old man, always with a stern face, as if everyone owed him something especially cold toward Ye Su.
But now, he was actually expressing his emotions.
Yi Xuan: "..."
He turned his face dark and looked downstairs, ignoring everyone in the room. After all, Ye Su was clearly willing to do things for You Fushi.
Ye Su coughed awkwardly a few times and changed the subject: "Alright, let’s focus on the auction."
The auction officially began downstairs, hosted by Huang Erqian. He first brought out a magic artifact from the Poyuan Sect for bidding.
Once Huang Erqian finished his introduction and struck the hammer, no one in the room made a bid. Everyone simply sat or stood, watching.
It took a while before a cultivator in one corner finally made a bid. A few more bids followed, and the first magic artifact was eventually sold.
"It’s one of our own people," Quan Jiaying said, his face gradually losing its earlier excitement and anticipation.
Although these weren’t high-grade magic treasures, they were still decent tools from the Poyuan Sect. The starting prices set by Huang Erqian weren’t high either. Under normal circumstances, people should’ve placed bids but no one had.
"Quite a few people in this building were likely tipped off by Quan Dianhang and the Zhanjin Sect," Quan Jiaying said grimly.
The Poyuan Sect and Huang Erqian had anticipated this possibility. That’s why they had planted their own people in the crowd, so when things went quiet like this, they could step in to keep the auction moving normally.
"Next is the sixth item... the Unyielding Sword, forged by Qianji Sect disciple Xi Yu." Huang Erqian brought out a Qianji Sect magic artifact. He kept a calm face as he struck the gavel. "Starting bid: three hundred thousand mid-grade spirit stones."
The first five items had all been bought by their own people, so Huang Erqian didn’t have high hopes for the rest either.
"Five thousand high-grade spirit stones." Suddenly, from the third floor, Yan Hao from the Hehuan Sect raised her paddle and made the bid.
Everyone was shocked, not just because she was spending high-grade spirit stones, but also because of who she represented.
Even though the Zhanjin Sect was the top smithing sect, it still didn’t compare to the Hehuan Sect, one of the five major sects.
While people were hesitating, the Unyielding Sword had already been won by Yan Hao of the Hehuan Sect.
Her bid seemed to break the ice, encouraging the other cultivators to start moving as well. When they saw an item they wanted, they began raising their paddles too.
Things picked up again until the appearance of talismans from two personal disciples of the Wuxing Sect, which kicked off a new peak in the auction.
