Don't Cause Trouble Chapter 113: Rotating Tower
Inside the room.
"Do you all want to look like those people in the center of the first floor?" Yan Hao asked while twirling her pink feather fan.
Ye Su nodded. "Is there an illusion spell that can do that?"
Yan Hao stood still and didn’t do anything, then said, "Done."
The members of Qianji Sect were stunned. Xia Er looked at Ye Su’s face and suddenly widened her eyes. "Senior Sister?!"
Ye Su’s face had already turned into that of one of the men from the first floor, and even her clothes had changed.
Looking again at Lu Jiu, Yi Xuan, and You Fushi, they had all taken on completely different appearances as well.
Ye Su borrowed a mirror from her third junior sister and looked into it, what she saw was also a man’s face.
"You’ll return to normal in an hour," Yan Hao said as she looked toward the auction item list in Ye Su’s hand. "Do you still need that?"
"No," Ye Su replied and handed her the list.
After taking it, Yan Hao put away her pink feather fan and tore the auction item list into four strips, handing them out to the three people behind her, Ming Liu Sha and the others. "All done."
Ming Liu Sha held two strips of paper, and suddenly "Ye Su" and "You Fushi" appeared on either side of her. Beside Xiyu and Xia Er, "Yi Xuan" and "Lu Jiu" suddenly showed up as well.
The members of Qianji Sect in the room were all dumbfounded.
Xia Er excitedly reached out and poked the nearby "Junior Brother Yi." "You can actually touch them?!"
"It’s just an illusion. It'll wear off in an hour," Yan Hao said as she opened her feather fan, smiling knowingly. "If you’ve got anything to do, now’s the time."
"Thanks," Ye Su said, then left through the passage with her team. Ming Liu Sha and the others walked out openly, accompanied by the four illusion figures of "Ye Su" and the rest.
To outsiders, nothing seemed off at all.
Wearing the face of a burly man, Ye Su stood in an alley and released her spiritual sense. After a moment, she said, "They’ve split up. One group is collecting spirit stones, the other half should be people from the Zhanjin Sect."
She looked at the three people behind her. "Lu Jiu, come with me to the right. Yi Xuan, take little junior brother and head left."
Many of the people sitting on the first floor earlier had been hired to purposely stir up trouble, but once the major sects got involved, the rest of the cultivators started making actual bids.
Even though the auction had gone smoothly, those troublemakers still needed to be taught a lesson.
As Ye Su and Lu Jiu walked up, they saw about a dozen cultivators in an alley ahead, counting spirit stones with their heads down.
The two of them exchanged a glance, and Ye Su stepped forward slowly.
Those cultivators clearly didn’t recognize Ye Su in her new burly form, they assumed she was another disinterested participant from the auction.
"Are you here to collect spirit stones too?" someone asked, thinking they’d been hired as well. "That guy already left."
"I don’t do low-tier stuff like collecting spirit stones," Ye Su said in a rough voice. "If I want spirit stones, I take them by force."
As soon as she said that, a few of the cultivators finally sensed something was off and tried to run in the other direction.
But Lu Jiu appeared from the other end. "Going somewhere?"
"Who are you people? Weren’t you trying to disrupt the auction too?" The group of cultivators huddled together, looking wary.
"We just hate seeing others doing well," Ye Su said, her face full of scruffy beard, looking no different than the man from the first floor.
"Just the two of you?" one of the cultivators shouted angrily. "Let’s take them together!"
……
After the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, the dozen or so cultivators had all been robbed of the spirit stones they had just received. They lay on the ground in the alley, bruised and swollen.
"Please don’t kill us!" one of the cultivators on the ground trembled as Ye Su approached and immediately begged for mercy.
Ye Su bent down, took the bag of spirit stones from his body, and tossed it to Lu Jiu behind her. She looked at the swollen-faced cultivator who could barely open his eyes and said, "Train hard, and return to the righteous path as soon as possible."
The cultivator on the ground: "???" Why don’t you return to the righteous path?
"These spirit stones... they’re loaded," Lu Jiu said, weighing the bag in his hand.
"Let’s go." Ye Su and Lu Jiu circled around a few times and returned to their original spot, waiting there for Yi Xuan and You Fushi to arrive.
On the other side, You Fushi and Yi Xuan were silently tailing another group. These people were clearly stronger in cultivation, but still hadn’t noticed they were being followed.
"Can you fight without the Chongming Sword?" Yi Xuan asked You Fushi.
You Fushi glanced at him, then suddenly appeared like a ghost behind the group. He threw a beast-hide net over them from head to toe, trapping them all together.
You Fushi turned around. "You do it."
Yi Xuan: "…" So when Senior Sister was handing out the magical artifacts earlier, she had already planned this?
Those people hadn’t expected anyone to attack them, especially since they hadn’t even bid on anything at the auction.
The cultivators trapped under the beast-hide net struggled desperately, trying to break free, but the more they struggled, the tighter the net became.
By this time, Yi Xuan had already walked over. The magical artifacts in his hands were quite simple, one was a bell, the other a thick round stick.
The bell floated in his palm and, before he even got close, it flew out and instantly enlarged, covering the cultivators trapped under the net.
Yi Xuan stood in front of the bell, looked down at the thick stick in his hand, and the moment he infused it with spiritual energy, it enlarged as well.
He held one end and turned to look at You Fushi. "You grab the other end."
You Fushi reluctantly walked over and grabbed the other end of the stick.
At first, the two were uncoordinated and clumsy, banging randomly, but soon they began to find a strange sense of enjoyment in it.
You Fushi and Yi Xuan, each holding one end of the stick, pushed it to strike the bell, an oddly harmonious scene.
The bell didn’t make any sound. Ye Su had said earlier that the sound was all trapped inside, specifically to deal with the cultivators under the bell.
"Fifty hits. That’s enough," Yi Xuan said, taking the initiative to stop.
He carefully set down the stick and put away the bell. The cultivators inside had collapsed on the ground, huddled together, each with blood coming from their ears.
You Fushi also put away the beast-hide net, but just then, one of the cultivators in the middle suddenly jumped up and attacked him.
Yi Xuan immediately kicked the man in the face.
You Fushi, who had just finished storing the net, looked down at the man on the ground, then turned to Yi Xuan and said, "Next time, we’ll have to hit sixty times."
Since these two groups were beaten and robbed, of course they wanted revenge the next day. As soon as they saw each other again, another fight broke out.
Naturally, this had nothing to do with Qianji Sect. As soon as the auction ended, they had left right in front of everyone.
……
Those who passed the second round had a month of rest.
During this time, aside from an auction, the disciples from each sect stayed within their courtyards to cultivate and did not go out.
"Are you sure that person is from Penglai?" The Sect Master of the Wanfo Sect, Le Ji, looked down at Gu Liangtian and asked.
"I'm sure." Gu Liangtian rotated the prayer beads in his hand, his thin face calm. "Lu Chenhan is there too."
"The others haven’t made any moves these past few days either." Le Ji pondered aloud. "I’ll send more people to investigate."
However, before the scouts could leave the Kunlun Realm, Daoist Fengchen summoned the sect masters to the Kunlun Grand Hall.
This time, the one who brought the disciples of the Pill Sect was an elder, but upon hearing the news that Penglai had come down the mountain, the Pill Sect Master personally rushed over from their main sect.
Kunlun Grand Hall.
"The reason I called everyone here today, you probably already have a rough idea," Daoist Fengchen said as he looked toward the side of the hall.
Lu Chenhan stepped forward.
"Chenhan has seen someone from Penglai."
Wu Yue of the Hehuan Sect raised her teacup to hide her smirk.
All the disciples from every sect had seen someone from Penglai, yet he made it sound like Lu Chenhan was the only one who discovered it.
"Daoist, have you learned something?" The sect master from Shangque Sect asked with a bow.
"Kunlun, like all the other sects, has very little contact with Penglai," Daoist Fengchen replied as he looked around. "But I do have some news in hand."
All the sect masters turned their attention to him, waiting for what he’d say next.
"According to the rules of the sect competition, the top ten will have a chance to enter the Rotating Tower," Daoist Fengchen said. "Penglai will be present."
"They came down the mountain just for the Rotating Tower?" Zhou Qi from Sword Sect frowned.
Penglai coming down the mountain always seemed to bring more trouble than good.
"Is it because of some issue between disciples? Or did something happen?" The Sect Master of Wuxing Sect asked immediately.
"Penglai didn’t say. They just sent a written message."
Daoist Fengchen raised his hand, and a paper crane in the shape of a celestial crane slowly opened.
——After the sect competition, ascend the Rotating Tower. Penglai will be present.
"The exact reason may only become clear after the competition," Daoist Fengchen said as he put the paper away. "So fellow sect masters, you should make sure your disciples are well-prepared, and don’t lose composure in front of Penglai."
After this meeting, it was clear that each sect raised their expectations for their disciples. Even if they couldn’t take first place, they had to at least earn a spot to enter the Rotating Tower.
"Rotating Tower?" Ye Su squatted on the ground organizing materials. She looked up at Xu Chengyu who had just walked over. "What’s that?"
"After the sect competition, the top ten get to enter the Rotating Tower," Xu Chengyu explained. "Inside, there’s a library—sword manuals, talisman books... anything you can think of is in there. And each person is allowed to bring out one item."
Ye Su put down her materials and stood up.
"That good, huh?"
She had thought the sect competition was just a show of strength and a way to gain some fame.
"Not many people outside know about the Rotating Tower," Xu Chengyu pointed to Zhou Yun and Ma Congqiu nearby. "Only core disciples from major sects get this info ahead of time."
"Is there any difference between the rankings in the top ten?" Ye Su sat down again and asked.
Xu Chengyu smiled. As expected of Ye Su, calm and sharp enough to spot the hidden details.
He nodded. "Yes. First place can stay inside for a year. Second place, six months. Third place, three months. Everyone else gets one month."
Ye Su looked him in the eyes. "Anything else special?"
"There are nine levels in total. Each level has restrictions. So far, no top ten disciple from any competition has ever reached the top. The highest record is the eighth level, only a few people have reached it."
"What level did my master reach?" Yi Xuan, who had been standing nearby, suddenly asked.
Xu Chengyu thought for a moment. "Elder Xin stayed on the seventh level for about a month. The rest of the time, he was on the sixth."
"He didn’t reach the eighth?" Lu Jiu asked curiously.
In her eyes, Senior Xin was already stronger than most.
"No. Anyone who’s reached the eighth level has, without exception, once transcended tribulation and ascended in the cultivation world," Xu Chengyu replied.
"Senior Sister, I think you can make it to the ninth level," Xia Er said as he squatted by the table, holding a beast bone. His ears perked up high, and he said confidently, "Then you can transcend and ascend!"
Ye Su chuckled.
"First I have to make it into the top ten."
"You definitely will!" Xia Chuichui said with extreme confidence.
Reaching the top of the tower probably won’t be easy. She wasn’t sure what else was in there, but Ye Su was very interested in the books Xu Chengyu mentioned.
Just to read more of those books, she would aim for a higher rank in the third round.
