Don't Cause Trouble Chapter 93: False Killing Array
All the participating disciples had entered the Chaos Mirror. The flow of time inside and outside the mirror was different, so those who entered first would also come out first.
Only the heads of each sect and the other accompanying disciples remained in the arena. The brown-haired elder waved his hand, and over a dozen Water Cloud Mirrors stood up in the center, letting everyone see what was happening inside.
Some of the smaller sects stood on the outer edges watching, while Ming Liu Sha, Xiyu, and Xia Er squeezed into the crowd, anxiously keeping an eye on Ye Su and the others.
"As expected of Kunlun’s disciples, they immediately regroup and reorganize as soon as they enter," said the sect master of the Upper Que Sect as he observed the scene.
Inside the Chaos Mirror, communication jades could not be used. As soon as the Kunlun disciples went in, they began marking their paths and steadily moved closer together, gradually converging in the direction of Lu Chenhan.
"The other sect disciples are reacting quite well, too," Daoist Fengchen stroked his white beard and said.
In fact, any disciple from a reputable sect would have their own means of contact.
"Those Wuming Sect disciples… are they also gathering together?" Wu Yue from Hehuan Sect suddenly sat up straighter, noticing that the last few Wuming Sect disciples who entered were closing in on each other.
"They must have planned it in advance," Zhou Qi was not surprised. There were always a few powerful figures in the Wuming Sect.
In comparison, the four disciples of Qianji Sect were completely wandering at random.
Oh no, Ye Su hadn’t even moved from where she landed.
Yi Xuan had fallen into a valley, and after walking around for a long time without encountering a single demon beast, he instead ran into Ning Qianyao, who had just come in.
"Little senior brother." Ning Qianyao tried to smile when she saw him, but then seemed to remember something, and the curve of her lips fell, leaving her looking quite pitiful.
Yi Xuan wasn’t good at picking up on that kind of emotion. He only cared if people provoked him, so he spit out one word: "Five."
"What?" Ning Qianyao was stunned, then remembered, and corrected herself awkwardly, "Fifth senior brother, should we go together?"
Yi Xuan refused. He pointed to the "Qianji Sect" characters on his own robe: "Not the same."
On the other side, Ning Qianyao was wearing pure white clothes today. At a glance, anyone might think she was from Kunlun.
Ning Qianyao opened her mouth, then finally said, "We could cooperate."
"No need," Yi Xuan refused again. Little junior sister was already mid-Nascent Soul stage, while he was peak late Golden Core. If they ran into a powerful demon beast, the one with the bigger risk would actually be him.
Since he didn’t have to protect her, there was no point in teaming up — he wanted to go test himself against demon beasts alone.
Ever since joining Sword Sect, he’d mostly fought humans, rarely demon beasts.
Yi Xuan was very curious to see how he would perform against a fourth-rank demon beast now. Surely he wouldn’t get his chest pierced through by a single claw like back then.
Ning Qianyao stood there watching Yi Xuan walk away, biting her lip, feeling extremely embarrassed.
It hadn’t been like this before. Yi Xuan would always stand on her side, and even if he refused her at first, after enough pleading, he would change his mind.
Ning Qianyao just couldn’t understand. She couldn’t figure out what was so good about Ye Su, she clearly had nothing.
It had always been this way since they were kids. Whenever she gave things to Ming Liu Sha, Xiyu, or Xia Er, she would eventually see those three go show them to Ye Su, or even share with her.
Only Yi Xuan, he was the only one who didn’t like Ye Su.
She never expected that after just three years apart, Ye Su and Yi Xuan would be on such good terms again.
"Ning Ning," Jian Hu easily found Ning Qianyao thanks to their soul contract.
Ning Qianyao turned around, looking at Jian Hu with a sweet smile, her eyes curved like crescent moons. It was fine, it was just Yi Xuan, after all.
……
The marshlands.
Ye Su stood on her sword, circling around a few times. With such a huge swamp, there shouldn’t have been only a dozen or so fourth-rank demon beasts.
While she was still thinking, a demon beast’s head suddenly emerged from the swamp. Before Ye Su could even react, it jerked its head down and dove straight back into the mud, as if afraid of being seen by her.
Beasts have their instincts.
At first, they saw that this cultivator’s realm was nothing special and wanted to eat her, but this cultivator had so many tricks up her sleeve that she’d killed and skinned quite a few demon beasts. Hearing the wails echoing through the air, the demon beasts hiding at the bottom of the swamp gradually went quiet as chickens.
Seeing this, Ye Su immediately understood that the swamp beasts were hiding from her.
Forget it, there was no point in squeezing every drop out of one place.
So the senior sister rode her sword and swiftly left the swamp. Once she reached land, she came to a stop and began searching in a carpet-sweeping fashion.
Wherever she went, whatever she saw as long as it had value, she wouldn’t let it go.
"That’s Hua snail grass, and next to it is Huan snail grass." In the arena, a pill cultivator noticed Ye Su picking herbs. "She can actually tell them apart."
Hua snail grass was expensive, but many amateur cultivators would gather up a bunch of Huan snail grass by mistake, which was completely useless.
Xia Er faintly overheard these words, and couldn’t help but feel proud as he told Ming Liu Sha and Xiyu beside him, "I told you, as long as it’s worth money, there’s nothing senior sister doesn’t know about."
After they started earning a bit of spirit stones, apart from necessary cultivation and buying materials, senior sister had spent all the rest on books, reading anything and everything.
Maybe Ye Su’s behavior was just too eye-catching among all the disciples, drawing quite a bit of attention.
"Penny wise, pound foolish, so short-sighted!" the brown-haired elder coldly scolded.
"For a small sect, with no hope of good results, collecting as much as possible in the Chaos Mirror is the right way to go," said the Wuxing Sect’s sect master. "Plenty of people go into this competition with exactly that mindset."
"I actually think this young one has some skills," Daoist Fengchen smiled. "Collecting resources and killing beasts, both at once."
The sect master of Poyuan Sect, Quan Shen, was seated lower to the right. Rong Chuqi quietly approached him from behind and said, "We’ve already had someone deliver that magic tool."
Fortunately, the Baiqing Rankings were evaluated in the west, not far from Kunlun.
Quan Shen turned his head slightly. "How’s Jiaying?"
"She burned too much spiritual energy and fainted," Rong Chuqi lowered her voice.
"She fainted?" Quan Shen turned halfway around, staring at Rong Chuqi as if trying to confirm if she was joking.
"We already called a healer over," Rong Chuqi smiled. "Jiaying is close to forming her nascent soul."
At this point, Quan Shen wasn’t that worried about Quan Jiaying’s level. He turned back around and stared at Ye Su in the Water Cloud Mirror.
If he remembered correctly, Ye Su’s cultivation wasn’t even as high as Jiaying’s. After finishing refining artifacts, one of them had passed out, while the other had rushed straight here to compete, and even killed so many fourth-rank demon beasts. Even if it was mostly thanks to tools and tricks, still…
At that moment, Quan Shen’s heart pounded a few beats faster, and he accidentally crushed the cup in his hand from not controlling his strength.
"Sect master?" Rong Chuqi noticed something was off and called out subconsciously.
Quan Shen subtly crushed the shards into powder, leaned back slightly, and told Rong Chuqi, "I have a feeling we bet on the right person."
Ye Su was far from ordinary.
……
At that moment, the not-so-ordinary Ye Su finally ran into people — a group of them.
A dozen or so people looked like they’d been lying in wait, and quickly surrounded her. One of them stepped forward and said, "Hand over all your beast cores, and we won’t revoke your entry pass."
Ye Su laughed when she heard that. "If I give you all my beast cores, the pass is useless to me anyway."
"There are still twenty days left, you can keep hunting demon beasts," the man ‘kindly’ suggested.
Within a month, if you collected a hundred fourth-rank beast cores, you could pass through.
"Aren’t you afraid of breaking the rules by stealing my beast cores?" Ye Su asked them.
Everyone around her burst out laughing, some even had tears in their eyes from laughing so hard.
"If disciples of the same sect can share with each other, then why can’t disciples from different sects cooperate or even steal? Who said it’s against the rules?" The leader wiped his tears and tugged on her robe. "Qianji Sect? Are all your disciples this naive?"
Ye Su glanced around, then suddenly asked, "So how’s business, robbing people out here?"
The whole group was stunned, then the leader shouted, "Cut the nonsense, what’s it to you? Hand over the beast cores and we’ll let you walk away!"
Ye Su brushed his hand aside. "It is my business since I’m about to rob you instead."
Everyone froze, wondering if they’d heard wrong.
Ye Su had already moved. She snapped her fingers, and in an instant, formations rose up from where she had passed earlier, trapping all of them inside.
"If you want to rob people, why didn’t you bother hiding better?" Ye Su mocked. "With skills this lousy, you want to learn how to rob people?"
"You tricked us!" the leader roared, furious. When she had walked over, supporting her waist and moving slowly — sometimes standing by a tree, sometimes crouching, they thought she was just easy prey.
"Yep, I tricked you." Ye Su looked at her palm, then raised her eyes. "Hand over your beast cores, and I’ll let you off."
Everyone: "……"
"You think you alone can handle all of us?" the leader sneered, gathering spiritual energy on his fists and smashing them at the formation that had risen from the ground.
But as his fists hit it, not only did they fail to break the formation, one of his hands was instantly twisted and broken by the rotating power of the array, making him scream in pain.
"Oh right, this is a lethal formation," Ye Su said calmly. "If you can’t break it, every part of it has that effect. Anyone else is welcome to try."
Someone really didn’t believe her, and tried to destroy the formation, but ended up backfired on all the same.
"Like I said, it’s a killing formation." Ye Su lowered herself, pressing her palm to the ground as if something was resisting her. The huge formation began to spin and move.
The group started to panic, some trying to struggle free, but every attempt triggered a backlash.
Ye Su, expressionless, slammed her palm down three more times before finally pressing into the center of the array. The entire formation suddenly spun with a blast, knocking them all unconscious.
"It’s just a false killing formation." Ye Su stumbled forward a couple of steps, raised a hand to press her temples, then methodically cleaned out all their beast cores one by one, helpfully crushing their entry passes too so they wouldn’t get eaten by demon beasts later.
"I didn’t expect you to know formations too."
Hearing a voice, Ye Su immediately straightened and looked toward someone walking out from behind a tree.
Yan Hao raised her hands. "Just passing by."
Ye Su smiled faintly but stayed on guard inside.
"You know talismans and formations?" Yan Hao admired, "And you look good, too. Our Hehuan Sect is short of talents like you."
"I only know a few formations, just this one," Ye Su replied. That notebook left by Senior Tu was really only suited for Nascent Soul cultivators and above; she was still at the Golden Core stage and could barely understand most of it.
The "false killing array" was the easiest one in the book, it looked intimidating, but in the end it couldn’t actually kill.
Ye Su had spent a long time learning it and had never tested it before; this was her first time using it, and her spiritual core was already protesting.
"Wanna go together?" Yan Hao fanned herself with a pink feather fan, handing Ye Su a pill. "It’s only the first round, no need to be so tense."
Ye Su lowered her gaze to the pill in her palm, but didn’t move.
"It’s a spirit replenishing pill, not worth much," Yan Hao pushed it into her hand, blinking. "If I go with you, can I see those two junior brothers of yours?"
