Don't Cause Trouble Chapter 99: Hair-Nourishing Pill
Yan Hao was silent for a long time, then suddenly blurted out, "We went into the forbidden area."
"You went into..." Wu Yue started to speak but then suddenly reacted. "The forbidden area?!"
Yan Hao nodded seriously.
"Yes, the forbidden area."
Wu Yue looked her disciple up and down—limbs intact, rosy complexion, stable cultivation.
She turned and half-reclined on her lounge chair.
"You’re telling me you went into the forbidden area and came out completely fine?"
"It’s true, Master," Yan Hao raised her hand solemnly. "We even walked around a bit in there."
Wu Yue was so amused she laughed in disbelief.
"Countless Nascent Soul-level deacons have died in there, yet the two of you—— one in Nascent Soul, one in Golden Core went in, took a stroll, and came back out?"
Yan Hao’s expression was so earnest that Wu Yue paused and said, "Maybe a formation transported you somewhere else instead."
Yan Hao looked down and opened her qiankun bag, pulling out a large handful of sixth-rank beast cores.
"Master, look."
Wu Yue stared at the colorful beast cores in her disciple’s hand.
"?"
Yan Hao lifted the qiankun bag higher.
"There’s still a bunch more inside."
Wu Yue: "……"
For a moment, the Hehuan Sect Master thought she was hallucinating or had gone deaf.
Otherwise, how could she be seeing her disciple holding a *pile* of sixth-rank beast cores?
"You killed that many sixth-rank beasts in the forbidden area?" Wu Yue asked, still in disbelief.
"No, we fished them out," Yan Hao shook her head.
Wu Yue: "……I don’t understand a single word you’re saying."
So, Yan Hao explained the entire experience she and Ye Su had inside the forbidden area from beginning to end.
She left the experienced Hehuan Sect Master so shocked she had to sip tea constantly just to calm herself.
"Master, if I had gone in there alone, I probably wouldn’t have come out," Yan Hao said gratefully.
If she hadn’t walked in with Ye Su, she likely would’ve taken the usual path, the one that would lead to discovering the illusion-covered formation on the tree.
With her current Nascent Soul cultivation, she wouldn’t have lasted two days in there before dying.
"No wonder," Wu Yue finally understood. "That’s why so many of the Nascent Soul cultivators we sent in never made it back."
With that many sixth-rank beasts, and on top of that, those green ants, even the most powerful Nascent Soul cultivators would meet the same end.
"I wonder who set up that formation. How did no one notice it?" Yan Hao asked in confusion.
"You and Chouren are the most talented disciples Hehuan Sect has sent to this competition," Wu Yue said as she looked at her.
"That illusion wasn’t something ordinary spell cultivators could see through."
"But how did Ye Su even get in there?" Yan Hao asked dully. "Does she know how to dispel illusions?"
Wu Yue carefully recalled the scene and shook her head.
"She didn’t dispel it. She just touched the tree trunk for a while then disappeared."
"Master, I think we’ve completely lost any chance of winning the sect competition this time," Yan Hao said while fanning herself with her pink feather fan.
"Though honestly, we didn’t have much hope to begin with."
"Put the beast cores away first," Wu Yue glanced at her.
"What are you trying to say?"
Yan Hao stowed the sixth-rank beast cores and walked over to her master, helping to massage her shoulders.
"I just want to say, Ye Su is really amazing. Her mind works way too fast. I suspect Lu Chenhan's top spot is in danger."
"Enough with that gloating expression," Wu Yue leaned on the lounge chair, thoughtful.
"Qianji Sect always manages to produce geniuses, and this Ye Su seems even more exceptional."
"Master, Ye Su is basically my lifesaver now," Yan Hao said flatteringly.
"If anything comes up, please try to protect her a little."
Wu Yue turned to look at her disciple.
"No one would go out of their way to make things hard for a genius."
……
Genius Ye Su was currently holding her third junior sister’s mirror, inspecting her own hair.
She lightly pinched a strand and it crumbled into ash.
Standing beside her, You Fushi found this mortal’s hair amusing and reached out to pinch it too, only to end up with a handful of soot.
"Stop pinching it already," Lian Lian said, still dressed in a bright red outfit, standing just outside the courtyard. "Keep going and the cultivation world’s going to gain a new baldie."
Ye Su put down the mirror and turned around, her hair sticking up like a bird’s nest. She looked toward the courtyard gate at Lian Lian and Cheng Huai’an.
"How do you two have time to visit today?"
Although the first round had just ended, disciples from all the major sects were already preparing for the next one.
"To check on you," Lian Lian said, walking inside and tossing Ye Su a bottle of pills. "Hair-Nourishing Pills. One will regrow your hair, and you can keep the rest for later."
"Thanks." Ye Su wasn’t someone who cared much about appearance, but after being struck by all that lightning, she no longer looked remotely human.
"Everyone outside is talking about you," Lian Lian said as she sat down.
"Qianji Sect taking back the top spot on the Baiqing Ranking, word is Zhanjin Sect is fuming."
"Half the credit goes to Po Yuan Sect. We co-forged the artifact," Ye Su said, swallowing a Hair-Nourishing Pill.
As expected, her hair immediately began to grow back.
The charred strands all broke off and scattered to the ground.
"Still impressive," Lian Lian said, taking out a jug of spirit wine and a stack of cups from her qiankun bag.
Every time she poured a cup, Cheng Huai’an would hand it to someone inside the courtyard.
When there were only two cups left, he didn’t move.
Lian Lian picked up the two remaining cups and handed one to Ye Su.
"Congratulations."
Ye Su clinked her cup against hers, then stood and raised it toward the others in a toast before tipping her head back and draining it.
Everyone in the courtyard raised their cups too.
Just as the others were lifting theirs to drink, Ye Su casually reached out, blocked You Fushi’s arm, swapped her empty cup for his full one, and downed that too.
You Fushi frowned.
*This mortal is really annoying.*
"We won’t disturb you further. We still have to train," Lian Lian said, rising after finishing her drink.
Ye Su walked them out, then turned back to the courtyard and said to her junior brothers and sisters, "It’s time we contacted Master."
Lu Jiu looked a little uneasy.
"I’ll go train first."
"You’re part of Qianji Sect too," Ye Su said. "Master hasn’t even met you yet. Besides, you and Junior Brother Yi are going to be the founding sword cultivators of Qianji Sect."
Lu Jiu hesitated for a moment.
"Then I’ll stay."
Even though You Fushi wasn’t happy about it, he still sat down next to Ye Su.
The connection to their communication jade activated almost instantly, as if someone had been waiting right next to it.
The courtyard fell silent.
"Who are you? Why do you have my master’s communication jade?" Xia Er asked urgently, staring at the man who appeared. "Where’s my master?"
The unfamiliar young man on the other end had charming, seductive peach blossom eyes that seemed to carry emotion for no reason at all.
"Mas–ter–took–another–disciple," Ming Liu Sha said slowly and deliberately.
Xiyu touched her hairpin and muttered in confusion,
"Did Master use to work for Hehuan Sect? There isn’t a single ugly disciple." Ye Su stared at the man, her expression shifting through a series of changes. After a long pause, she finally asked, "Zhang Fengfeng?"
"My dear first disciple!" the unfamiliar young man exclaimed, nearly in tears, his voice familiar and kindly.
"Qianji Sect has taken first place on the Baiqing Ranking! Your grandmaster can finally rest in peace!"
"Master?!" Ming Liu Sha, Xiyu, and Xia Er all stared wide-eyed at the image in the jade, exclaiming in unison.
Even the usually calm Yi Xuan had a deeply confused look in his eyes.
Lu Jiu didn’t know what Qianji Sect’s headmaster looked like. When he saw the handsome youth on the other side, he thought: *"Even the sect master is this good-looking? Qianji Sect is more ‘Hehuan’ than Hehuan Sect."*
"Yi Xuan, next time have your second master stop by for a visit," Zhang Fengfeng said, subconsciously reaching up to stroke a non-existent beard.
"Who’s ugly now?"
Yi Xuan: "……"
"Are you really our master?" Xia Er asked, staring at the young man. "Even your eyes look different."
"Back then, the Hehuan Sect master cast an illusion spell on me," Zhang Fengfeng said proudly. "The longer my beard grew, the uglier I looked."
